Journalism as a Junior
In my junior year, 2021-2022, I covered sports beats in both semesters. Writing for sports is vastly different from any previous writing I did for school. However, it was easy to get caught up in the fast-paced action each sport provided. Below are some of the game stories I wrote for sports.

In this article, I did a deep dive into the prison system and how inmates would help fight fires. Living in Califronia, fires are frequently making headlines. Yet the firefighters putting out these fires are rarely recognized. What most Californian's don't know is how much inmates contribute to this process. I loved writing this article because I learned so much about the prison system and how fires work, and I was able to expose that light to readers.
Carlmont's JV basketball team is known to be extremely dominant. As I was reporting on this game I immediately was swept up in the spirit that comes along with these games. Not only was it fun to report on this game, I also loved many of the pictures I took. This sports articles helped me realize how far I have come as a photographer.
Unlike other sports I covered as a journalist, I was inexperienced in the game of lacrosse and how it functioned. Yet I still found a way to become wrapped up in the infectious energy the players on the field gave off. I loved writing this article and trying to channel the energy Carlmont gave off as they played the game.
I loved writing each one of my articles this year. Below are all the ones I didn't feature above. Click on each photo to find out more about the article. Happy reading!
